Work

February 8, 2005 - 8:49pm

Today work is going much better than yesterday. I'm much calmer. I didn't sleep enough last night, but I blew off some steam so it was worth it. I've realized that I'm too much of a perfectionist. I always want things fixed right away. It's a good thing to want, but it's impossible when you're dealing with other people. Patience is a virtue. I have to remember that it's only a job, right?

I think a lot of people fail to make the distinction between what they do, and what they are here to do. I'd like to think that everyone has a destiny, a function to perform for which they were imbued with a unique mixture of talents, skills and perceptions. Whatever that function is, it is why you are here. Perhaps even who you are. Because of economic need, perceived obligations or simple inertia, sometimes we do other things... and that is *what* we do. Not that what we do isn't important, just that it isn't in our soul. I guess the trick lies in discovering the first, then combining the two... Like Momma said: Figure out what it is that you love to do, then find someone to pay you to do it.

it is only a job - and at the end of the day you can go home and pet your dog and all that stuff just doesn't matter any more, right?!

"Patience is a virtue" -- Isn't this what they used to say to the Nestle Quik bunny?! :)
