Last weekend, Karen, my older sister, came to Phoenix for the first time. Since she's been living in Germany ever since I moved to Phoenix, its just been too far for her to come. During this trip back to the States, she visited Kristen, Chris, and the new baby, Braydon. Then she went to Texas to see both sides of the family. At the end of the trip, she was able to come out and see me! It was the first time we've hung out just us since she was married almost three years ago.
Friday night we went to the bar at the Hilton Tapatio Cliffs on North Mountain. It has a beautiful view of the valley and at night its especially wonderful. We had a couple drinks and caught up on stuff. Saturday, we kicked around Old Town Scottsdale. We shopped, ate, and complained about the 90 degree weather, which was unseasonably warm even for Phoenix. Karen kept saying that she wished her husband could visit because she thought he'd like it so much. Since Saturday night was St. Patrick's Day, we met up with Jennifer and John at Casey Moore's in Tempe. I'm glad Karen finally met Jennifer, since she's such a good friend. Sunday we drove up north to Cave Creek and Carefree. It's was nice to show Karen the undeveloped desert and some mountains. Those things are what I really love about Arizona.
Sunday night Alison arrived and we all got to hang out. Alison stopped by as a part of her cross-country drive. She's taking two months to drive around the country and write a book along the way. I consider myself lucky to have her visit me during the trip. Sunday night the weather was gorgeous so we just sat on the porch and talked. Having a couple women around made me miss having roommates.
Monday I went to work, but Karen and Alison explored the city together. Then Monday night Karen flew back to Dallas for a couple days before heading back to Germany. It was a really nice visit.
