Bike to Work Day

Wednesday, April 22nd was Bike to Work Day. The event is designed to get people to try riding their bikes to work and get them to consider it as an option for commuting. As I've gotten to ride more, I commute to work on a bike a couple times a week. It's been a great change for me as I'm SO much more relaxed when I get to work.

For Bike to Work Day, Phoenix had a small (escorted!) bike ride through downtown and free breakfast. It started earlier than I normally ride, but I decided it was important to show my support for this event.

I was really pleased when I met Joseph at the ride. He's a city employee who is a big supporter of bicycle infrastructure. I heard him speak a couple months ago at a bike event. He educated us on lanes around the new light rails lines and passed out new bike maps. I really enjoyed talking with Joseph during the ride & met a few other really neat people too. It was a great morning & a fun event!
